Beach Bag Essentials!

Aveda Naturally Bright tote bag with Aveda products Daily Light Guard, Sun Care Hair Veil, Texture Tonic, and travel size of Sun Care Hair and Body Wash

Throughout the month of July, we’ll be featuring some of our stylists’ favorite summertime products - so I’ll get us started by sharing some of my favorite Aveda beach bag essentials!

Daily Light Guard Defensive Fluid Broad Spectrum SPF 30

This is a beach bag staple - as in - never leave home without it! Use it all year long, but especially in the summer when those sunshine rays are at their strongest. Don’t be deceived by an overcast day- you still need protection from the sun behind the clouds!

This mineral derived, non-chemical sunscreen is lightweight, and delivers dual UVA/UVB protection. An antioxidant blend with ginger extracts helps defend against free radical damage, and it will not clog your pores. No matter your skin type, you can use this product. If you’re beaching it for an extended period of time, make sure to reapply throughout the day to protect that beautiful face of yours!

Sun Care Hair and Body Wash, Travel

I like to keep a travel size Sun Care Hair and Body Wash in my beach goody bag - not just for after beach time cleansing, but to use as a hand wash while at the beach. I don’t really care for public restroom hand soap, so yes, I bring my own! Plus, who can argue that Sun Care smells delicious - just like summer with it’s citrusy aroma - and it gently cleanses without stripping out any moisture from skin. Post beach, it’s my preferred body wash, as it removes salt residue (and chlorine if you’re poolside) and cleanses skin without drying it out.

Sun Care Protective Hair Veil

This is the star of my beach bag reception! I love this lightweight spray on mist - again, it smells like summer - just like the Hair and Body Wash. It protects hair from harmful UV rays to protect your tresses, and to minimize damage and dryness. The UVA/UVB protection is derived naturally from wintergreen and cinnamon bark oils, which help protect hair from the drying effects of the sun.

You can mist damp hair before and after sun exposure - and always reapply as needed. I also find that this works well on dry hair, especially if you plan to hit the beach after styling hair.

Texture Tonic

A day at the beach means beachy waves - go with the flow and embrace the sea air and what it does to your hair! Texture Tonic creates effortless waves through the power of sugar, salt, and babassu - salt helps to contract the hair to create piecey texture, cane sugar creates softness and shine, and the fun-to-say babassu helps condition hair and add texture.

Just take it out of your bag, spray on damp air from mids to ends, and let hair air dry. That’s it! No maintenance beach hair is the best hair - plus you’ll love the woodsy, clean aroma, thanks to vetiver.

It’s no secret that I could definitely stuff more products into my beach bag, but these essentials see me through my much needed time with the waves and the sand.

Stay tuned for more summertime recommendations from our stylists. Have fun and summer on!
